Program and Activities
The Mekong One Health Innovation Program (MOHIP) has three key programmatic activities
Activity 1
Create a transnational network between Mekong and U.S. researchers/practitioners focused on health security, especially using the One Health approach.
- Establish relationships and partnerships with health security and One Health researchers/experts in the Mekong countries.
- Conduct virtual networking webinars on health security and One Health connecting the U.S. and Mekong researchers and practitioners.
- Create a web platform to enable communication and networking between health security and One Health researchers/practitioners.
- Use MOHIP webinars as a platform for One Health education that will reach a broader audience among key Mekong stakeholders and partners.
Activity 2
Determine health security and One Health challenges and gaps in the lower Mekong sub-region and develop and offer a course on “Health Security, One Health, and Zoonoses” based on regional need.
- Assess the health security and One Health challenges and identify gaps in the One Health education and training programs in the lower Mekong sub-region.
- Develop the “Health Security, One Health, and Zoonoses” course and identify the course instructors/speakers.
- Deliver the “Health Security, One Health, and Zoonoses” course to the Mekong researchers.
Activity 3
Provide funding to Mekong researchers to carry out research projects to strengthen health security in the lower Mekong sub-region.
- Implement the One Health research grant program and monitor and evaluate the MOHIP-funded research projects.
- Disseminate research findings in the form of publications, messaging campaigns, and presentations at the Research Symposium.
