The Mekong One Health Innovation Program (MOHIP) has three key programmatic activities

Activity 1

Create a transnational network between Mekong and U.S. researchers/practitioners focused on health security, especially using the One Health approach.

  • Establish relationships and partnerships with health security and One Health researchers/experts in the Mekong countries.
  • Conduct virtual networking webinars on health security and One Health connecting the U.S. and Mekong researchers and practitioners.
  • Create a web platform to enable communication and networking between health security and One Health researchers/practitioners.
  • Use MOHIP webinars as a platform for One Health education that will reach a broader audience among key Mekong stakeholders and partners.

Determine health security and One Health challenges and gaps in the lower Mekong sub-region and develop and offer a course on “Health Security, One Health, and Zoonoses” based on regional need.

  • Assess the health security and One Health challenges and identify gaps in the One Health education and training programs in the lower Mekong sub-region.
  • Develop the “Health Security, One Health, and Zoonoses” course and identify the course instructors/speakers.
  • Deliver the “Health Security, One Health, and Zoonoses” course to the Mekong researchers.

Provide funding to Mekong researchers to carry out research projects to strengthen health security in the lower Mekong sub-region.

  • Implement the One Health research grant program and monitor and evaluate the MOHIP-funded research projects.
  • Disseminate research findings in the form of publications, messaging campaigns, and presentations at the Research Symposium.
