Michael F. Miller is the senior administrative assistant to the Director of the Institute for Global Health (IGH) & IGH coordinator of global health research programming at Michigan State University (MSU), where he has worked since 2013. From 1989-2012 he held various positions at MSU in directing and supporting programs within the Office of the Dean of International Studies and Programs (ISP); the office he directed in this period directly brought in more than $25 million to conduct a diversity of international programs involving people from more than 50 countries on 5 continents, as well as brought in more than $1 million in endowments worth more than $2.5 million in 2012. From 1991-1995, he was also assistant to the dean, working with strategic planning, as well as researching and writing on various program plans and designs as well as policy positions in support of the ISP Dean’s Office initiatives.

Mr. Miller’s B.A. degree is from the University of Pittsburgh in Asian Studies with a focus on East Asia and Inner Asia. He then pursued graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in South Asian Studies. He subsequently earned an M.A. (and is A.B.D.) at the University of Maryland-College Park, in Government and Politics with a focus on international relations and security, comparative politics, ethnicity, and regional development, while also working in UMCP’s Office of International Affairs. While studying at Maryland, he also worked as an R&D contract specialist in an executive fast-track program at the National Cancer Institute (NCI-part of the National Institutes of Health), where he was responsible for R&D government contracting and project development in the life sciences from 1987-1989.
